Brother Nature
Donte Stallworth pleaded guilty and accepted a plea deal for drunk driving manslaughter. Glad he is manning up to this accident. He has to serve 30 days jail time, house arrest for 3 years (I think) and 8 years probation, and he lost his drivers license for life.
Don't know if he can play football or not, but celebrity does wonders for you even if you kill someone.
Sandman
I heard about this today.
If only he would of called someone when he was buzzed, that poor guy he hit would be alive.
If we had done, what he did, it is game over. But $$ does buy your freedom, a la OJ.
Diesel
No drivers license for life? That's my dream.
White Russian
He should have got more than 30 days in jail. It's good that he immediately took responsibility & hasn't come up with lame excuses, but 30 days may as well be nothing. When the plea deal was made they should have realized how bad it would look & told him he's got to do at least a year in the can to make it look good. He should also be suspended from the NFL for a year, starting when he gets out of jail.
The history of light sentences is pathetic. In 1998, Leonard Little only got 90 days in a work house, 4 years probation, and 1,000 hours community service when he plead guilty to the same offence. His suspension from football was 8 games. Then when he was caught drunk driving again in 2004, he was acquitted, even though he failed 3 roadside sobriety tests.
Sandman
We should get this info on the Big Machine.
This is all good suff.
Diesel
If this is all getting on the big machine then you need to include the opinion that Sandman's dad shouldn't be allowed to own any four legged animals. Also, any 1/2 man-1/2 beast that he produces from his seed should be killed with fire. That includes the boy-coyote and man-gator he has in his backyard.
Brother Nature
Just heard more details - 10 years probation, 1000 hours community service and an undisclosed amount of compensation to the victims family.
I think the defense was saying the victim wasn't in the crosswalk, and jumped out into the street as if he was possibly running to catch a bus.
Sandman
He just paid he way out of jail.
The family should reject the money and push for a trial and more jail time.
Diesel
It does seem wrong that a guy can kill another guy while driving drunk and he gets little punishment. That guys life was worth 1,000 hours (6 months - 8 hours a day) cleaning trash. He got run over by a drunk millionaire because he was going to his shat job via the bus. Donte can never make it right but he should do whatever he can to compensate the family or help others for the life that he took without provocation. Stallworth won't because he doesn't really care enough beyond saving himself. When he is laughing it up 3 years from now I doubt he will think at all of the life he took. "It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have." - Will Munny (Unforgiven)
White Russian
Stallworth [dressed as Wyatt Earp] - "From now on I see a city bus, I kill the man running to it. So run, you cur. And tell all the other curs the law is coming. You tell 'em I'm coming! And Hell's coming with me, you hear! Hell's coming with me!"
