Sandman at Large - Phil Jackson
By Sandman
Phil Jackson is extremely smug and arrogant. He seems to constantly call out the officials, and does seem to think that is he smarter than anyone else on the planet.
In winning his 10th championship this weekend, Jackson has done something that no coach has ever done. In all the coaches in the pantheon of the NBA, Phil Jackson has won 10 of the 65 titles - 15%.
It was a lot easier to root for Jackson when he was the underdog, when he was coaching for next to nothing in the CBA, leading the Albany Patroons to a CBA championship, or coaching part time in Puerto Rico.
I am a true Sacramento Kings fan, and it pains me to write this, but Phil Jackson is more than a coach, he is able to massage the egos of the Type A and get them to slither to this song. Kobe, Michael, Shaq, they all acquiesced to Phil, because they knew he would take them to the top.
Congrats Phil on the 10th ring. Now ride off into the sunset, and next time you are interviewed, speak with a bit more humility. That goes a long way. People will like you more, not that you care.
