Manny got a 50 game suspension today for using a banned substance. Of course, he says it was something from a doctor and he didn't know there was a banned substance in it. It's such a tired excuse - players should know by now to check with MLB and get in writing that what they are about to take is ok.

Brother Nature:
I think if he says he didn't know then he is lying. You are right in that with all the media attention and the steroid scandal, etc., players would be completely stupid to take anything without checking with MLB first unless they knew it was banned, then just hope they don't get caught, which is what I think Manny did.

On top of all that, you hold out for big $$$ and then do something stupid to possibly lose that. I think the Dodgers should be able to get 50 games worth of salary back, actually maybe the whole season because this is hurting the team to lose a starter.

What a buffoon!

White Russian:
He will lose about a third of his salary - which is probably about 8 million. He's out until July 3rd.

Sandman:
I am getting really burned out on sports figures and their BS.

• Kobe with the rape thing
  
• Jayson Williams blasting a limosime driver then trying to cover it up
• A-Rod
• Rae Carruth - killing his lady friend
• OJ - Killing two people

If Manny worked for any other company...and could not ball - he would be pushing a broom, and would have been fired already. How can a guy, getting paid 25 mill...miss 1/4 of the season - these athletes are spoiled babies, like Bryant Gumbel - I say give them a bottle and let them suck on it.

• Ray Lewis and his connection to murder.
• Tim Donaghy fixing NBA games.
• Giambi apologizing, but not able to say what he was apologizing for.
• All the foolish DUI's, when it would be so simple with their salaries to have transportation covered.
• Plaxico and other NFL players with guns.
• Michael Irvin and his adventures in hotel rooms.
• Mike Tyson and his rape thing.
• Pete Rose and his betting on games that he was involved in.
• Brett Fawv-ruh and his laying down just so Strahan can have his sacks record.
• Ron Artest.
• All the other steroid guys, like Palmeiro, Clemens, Bonds, and the others who deny, deny, deny, then are found either guilty or so highly suspect that you can't believe their denials.

Sandman:
We need to get this list on the big machine.

White Russian:
Here's more:

• Gary Sheffield.
• Marion Jones losing five Olympic medals due to steroid use. She's one of those athletes who angrily denied allegations over and over.
• All of the other Olympic athletes and their doping, including Ben Johnson and many others in track and field, Michelle Smith in swimming, and the entire Chinese swim team, who have had more than 40 swimmers fail drug tests since 1990.
• All the Bengals players who kept getting in trouble.
• Magic Johnson and his love for himself.
• Certain showboating NFL wide receivers and their love for themselves.
• The #1 draft pick in the NFL becoming the highest paid player in the league before he's even played a game, or even gone to one practice.
• Dog Beater.

Sandman:
I wouldn't include Irvin on this list :)

White Russian:
I think everyone else would include him - chances are pretty good that you're on an island on this one.

Sandman:
I think you're right.

White Russian:

• Pacman Jones.
• Muhammad Ali.
• Cheating by college athletes, like the Florida State football players in 2007.
• Bud Selig
