Greg Dobbs singled home Abraham Nunez in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Rainiers completed a four-game sweep of the Cubs with a 5-4 win on Friday night.
Chris Snelling started the ninth with a single against Cliff Bartosh (1-2), who walked Nunez. After Hunter Brown forced Snelling at third base, Dobbs came through with his second hit of the night.
Masao Kida (3-5) blew a save in the eighth but struck out four in two scoreless innings for the win.
Tacoma reliever Sean Green walked the bases loaded with none out in the eighth before Corey Patterson greeted Kida with an RBI single. Kida nearly escaped, but pinch-hitter Ben Grieve tied the game with a two-out, two-run single.
Starter Todd Wellemeyer allowed two runs -- one earned -- on five hits over 5 1/3 innings for Iowa, which has lost five straight and eight of its last nine games.
Tacoma counterpart Damian Moss was even better, limiting the Cubs to one run on two hits over six innings. Snelling collected three hits, including a two-run homer, for the Rainiers.
Iowa continues its road trip in Portland at 10:05 p.m. ET on Saturday, while Tacoma hosts Omaha at 10:05 p.m.
